King Leopold I and Queen Louise-Marie

Prince Leopold of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, who took the throne as King Leopold I, was the first King of the Belgians. He reigned from July 21, 1831 until his death on December 10, 1865. Prior to becoming King of the Belgians, he served as the consort of the heir to the British throne, Princess Charlotte Augusta of Wales, who died in childbirth in 1817.  In 1832, Leopold married a French princess, Louise-Marie d'Orléans. After bearing her husband four children, she passed away on October 11, 1850.  The following are a few of the articles on this blog dealing with Leopold and Louise-Marie.
